About Us
Hello. My name is Janice Storey and Diamonds 'N Bubbles Tutoring is my dream to support the vision of helping every child to learn to read. Reading is the gateway to unlimited knowledge and speech gives voice to the music of the heart. I want to instill in children that their voice matters.
So where did the name of Diamonds N' Bubbles come from? First of all, the words "diamonds" and "bubbles" are two of children's favorite words. Children are like diamonds. First, they need to form and grow. Then these diamonds are shaped and polished to shine brightly. Words are like bubbles, small intricate parts that are put together to convey a deeper meaning that allows us to express our thoughts and actions.
Reading was difficult for me growing up. I could "sound out" the words, but reading them on sight was hard for me. I understand how children may feel when they don't quite grasp what they need to know.
I was fortunate to have good teachers who worked with me. Eventually, I overcame my difficulties and managed to graduate with a degree in speech therapy and a Masters of Early Childhood in Special Education. After working in public education for 15 years, I understand that some children need more than a classroom setting to fully understand words and reading.
When schools and parents have difficulty teaching a struggling reader, they may find that available intervention services are limited. Diamonds 'N Bubbles is here to help.
